Description
One of the venerable Borrowdale Yews, which may be as old as 2,000 or 2,500 years. The trees were celebrated in a Wordsworth poem of 1803, but were damaged in the big storm that hit the Lake District in January 2005. This one storm cost the NT £400,000 in repair and clear-up costs. The UK is already twice as stormy as 50 years ago and that trend is set to increase.
