Description
The Long Gallery, viewed from the north alcove towards the fireplace, at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire. The table in the foreground is covered with a carpet in the Elizabethan manner, one of the two late sixteenth or early seventeenth-century German or Flemish brass chandeliers is visible. The chimneypiece, one of two in the Gallery, has alabaster statues of Justice and Mercy.
