The Withdrawing Chamber at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire. The fireplace overmantel is alabaster and has carvings of Apollo and the Nine Muses together with royal arms and initials. In front of the fireplace is the sea dog table based on an engraved design of 1560 by Du Cerceau. The tapestries are late sixteenth or early-seventeenth century Flemish and are thought to depict the story of Scipio or other Roman general.
