Description
The Sham Bridge with vermiculated stone and three pediments, in the Wilderness at Prior Park Landscape Garden, Bath. The Sham Bridge was designed by Alexander Pope in the 1740s to appear as a bridge over a river whereas in fact it is on a pond with no water course through it. The house (not owned by the NT) is in the background.
