Description
The Magna Carta Memorial, designating the spot where it was sealed in 1215. The memorial is in the form of a domed classical temple with a pillar of English granite bearing the inscription "To commemorate Magna Carta, symbol of Freedom Under Law" and was designed by Sir Edward Maufe RA and unveiled in 1957. Runnymede is an attractive area of riverside meadows and woodland, designated a Site of Special Interest.
