Oil painting on canvas, `Lady Liverpool', a Bay Horse in a Stable, by imitator of John Frederick Herring the elder (Surrey 1795 - Meopham, Kent 1865), bears traces of a bogus signature, bottom right: J. F. Herring. The horse stands alone, unharnessed in a stable, in profile with its head facing left but looking round towards the spectator so that a white dimaond marking is visible between its eyes. The floor of the stable is covered with straw and there is hay in an iron hay rack on the left-hand wall above a stone fireplace. CMS_PCF_987459
