Inscribed in yellow script, top centre left: Ld. Allington [William Alington, 1st Baron Alington of Killard (1610/11-c.1648)]. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young man, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, dressed alla romana, in a cuirass, his left hand on a baton, his right hand gesturing forward, palm upraised, wearing a broad, flat-topped, long wig, pale brown cloak billowing at the back, drapery in the background on the right, a stone window on the left, showing a landscape with a distant horizon and cloudy sky .CMS_PCF_1139958
