Belton House

The Hondecoeter Room at Belton House, Lincolnshire, UK. The painting over the fireplace is "Dead Swan and Peacock" by Jan Weenix the Younger (1642 - 1719), dated 1708, who was a cousin of Melchior d'Hondecoeter (1636 - 95), who painted the other canvases in the room. The dining table in the foreground is early nineteenth century mahogany. The fireplace is from Ashridge Park. The present decorative scheme revives one instituted in the early C20th after advice from Sir Edward Lutyens.
