Description
The keyboard of the "Manxman" piano in the Hall at Standen, West Sussex. The piano is named after the designer of the prototype M.H.Baillie Scott (1865-1945) who lived on the Isle of Man. The keyboard is enclosed with doors from an Elizabethan strongbox. This example was designed by C.R.Ashbee in 1903 and manufactured by Broadwood. The oak cabinet is inlaid with chevron banding and medallions and decorated with floral enamel plaques
