Description

A close view of the Library fireplace made by Forsyth with onyx surround, at Cragside, Northumberland. The onyx surround was acquired by Armstrong during his visit to Egypt in 1872. The figures on the bright blue majolica tile-checks are from a design of 1852-3 by Alfred Stevens, and the steel grate was supplied by Benham and Son.
